Mary Muirhead
President
Mary is a junior Bioengineering student on the Cellular Engineering and Pre-Optometry tracks. She is an undergraduate researcher at the Laboratory of Ocular Biomechanics, a TA for the First-Year Engineering Program, and a co-chair for the annual FYEC. Mary also loves spending time outdoors and hanging out with friends. She can’t wait to help guide BMES through another great year!
Luiza Weissman
VP/Professional Development Chair
Luiza is a senior bioengineering student on the cellular track and is hoping to attend medical school after graduating. She has been a part of two Pitt research labs and is a TA for cell biology and biostatistics. She enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with friends and family. Luiza is super excited to be VP and cannot wait to bring new opportunities to BIOEs!
Shivam Kumar
Communications Chair
Shivam is a sophomore Bioengineering student and finds Orthopedics and Bioinformatics of interest. He researches under Dr. Stuckenholz and Dr. Davidson. Shivam wants to attend medical school after graduation. He also enjoys reading, playing basketball, and cooking.
Abby Santora
Public Relations Chair
Abby is a junior Bioengineering student on the Cellular Engineering track and is pursuing a minor in Chemistry. After graduation, she plans to go on to a PhD. Abby works as an undergraduate researcher in Dr. Marra's lab. She enjoys cooking, tennis, and being outdoors. Abby is excited for the upcoming year!
Jude Taha
Mentorship
Jude is a junior bioengineering student on the cellular engineering track. Outside of BMES, he does research at UPMC and loves to play soccer, spend time with friends, and read. Jude is excited for a great year as the mentorship chair.
Casie Yonker
Business Chair
Casie is a sophomore studying Bioengineering and Mechanical Engineering with interests in medical devices and prosthetics. After graduation, she hopes to work in the development and design of medical technologies that improve patient care. Outside of class, Casie loves working out, playing soccer, and hanging out with friends.
Anshi Patel
Outreach Chair
Anshi is a sophomore Bioengineering student interested in the Cellular Engineering track, with plans to pursue minors in Chemistry and Neuroscience. She is on the pre-med track with plans to attend medical school in the future. Anshi will be a Teaching Assistant for General Chemistry 2 this year. In her free time, Anshi enjoys playing tennis, reading, working out, and spending time with friends.

Dhruv Mirji
Social Chair
Dhruv is a sophomore Mechanical Engineering student and is pursuing Minors in Bioengineering and Economics. He is interested in surgical robotics and wearable rehabilitation devices, and plans to pursue the EAGr program and a PhD in Mechatronics. He loves backpacking, lifting, listening to music, and hanging out with friends. Dhruv looks forward to an engaging program this year!
